Sour Things: The Door

NIKA Project Space presents Sour Things: The Door, a new installation by Palestinian artist Mirna Bamieh. Marking her return to the gallery following her solo presentation inaugurating NIKA’s Paris space in 2024, the exhibition forms the latest chapter of her ongoing Sour Things series, initiated in 2020 to examine preservation as both culinary practice and political condition.

 

Through sculpture, video and drawing, the installation addresses migration and the condition of being held at a threshold. While grounded in Bamieh’s lived experience, the installation speaks to broader conditions of displacement and the precarious terms on which movement is granted or denied.
