Performance: Woven Words

NIKA Project Space Paris

Woven Words extends Missed Mist into voice and sound, unfolding as an evening where language, silence, and presence interlace. Through a selection of haiku-like poems by Abbas Kiarostami, brief and scattered lines emerge one by one within silence. Language does not accumulate; it interweaves. Brevity becomes a gesture that opens a vast imaginative space. As Ali Kaeini’s works reveal presence through erasure, the live reading invites the audience to dwell in what is withheld, entering imagination rather than interpretation.

The event unfolds in two parts. It begins with a 30-minute talk introducing Missed Mist and situating the exhibition within Kaeini’s broader practice, offering context in the artist’s absence. The second part shifts from reflection to experience: a live reading of Kiarostami’s poems, accompanied by live music by Pinky Htut Aung. Extending the exhibition into voice and sound, the evening reflects on how brevity and silence create space for perception to expand.

The program is conceived by Mahsan Shams (b. 1995, Tehran), an independent curator and researcher based in Paris and a member of the Curators’ Office of POUSH. Her curatorial practice, grounded in philosophical reflection and poetic sensibility, takes form through exhibitions and performative formats that examine how art and language shape perception and meaning. Through writing and collaborative projects, she develops contexts in which ideas are not explained but experienced.
