Paris: Opening Reception of Offrandes
NIKA Project Space, Offrandes
After the summer break, NIKA Project Space in Paris returns with Offrandes, a group exhibition curated by Camille Bréchignac, bringing together 14 artists from around the world. We cordially invite you to join us for the opening reception.
The show takes the ex-voto as its point of departure to consider the parallel between placing an offering in a place of worship and exhibiting an artwork within the white cube. Both gestures assume that an object, placed in a symbolically charged space and addressed to a community, can produce effects beyond itself. Rather than presenting ex-votos themselves, the exhibition examines how their symbolic and ritual functions continue in contemporary art through works that celebrate, repair, heal, and recount.
With works by Mirna Bamieh, Jimena Croceri, Pauline Curnier Jardin, Alix Marie, Guadalupe Maravilla, Nazilya Nagimova, Nika Neelova, Daniela Ortiz, Adrian Pepe, Dove Perspicacius, Carlota Sandoval Lizarralde, Hugo Servanin, Yan Tomaszewski, Nomin Zezegmaa
